Site Assessment
An appointed judge will visit all entries for CYA 2008. Each site is evaluated against the key criteria developed by the Cemetery of the Year Awards Committee: This includes input from the Memorial Awareness Board (MAB), the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM) and the National Association of Memorial Masons (NAMM).
Assessment will be based in an on-site assessment of all applicants. Entrants will be given one week’s notice of the judges’ visit. Please note, date allocated to each site is final and non-negotiable.
The panel of judges is appointed by MAB, ICCM and NAMM.
Awards Ceremony
Prize giving will be at an ICCM organised event in the late autumn (precise venue and date to be confirmed later). Winners will not be notified in advance.
An engraved stone plaque will be awarded to the winner of each category. All other finalists or special awards will receive a finalist plaque. ** The Assessment Panel may choose not to select a winner if they feel that no entry in that category meets the necessary standard.
The decision of the Assessment Panel is final and no correspondence regarding the award, the assessment or the conditions will be entered into. All entrants will receive feedback after the awards ceremony has taken place. This is intended to identify positive attributes noted by the judges and to point out where improvements might be made.
The allocation of awards does not constitute a Bench Marking Assessment. The competition is intended to promote the role of cemeteries and crematoria in the community by raising public awareness of the high standard of burial and cremation facilities that can be achieved within the UK.
Additional information
Cheques should be made payable to the ‘Cemetery of the Year Awards’ and should state the site name on the reverse.
The deadline for all entries is Friday, 30 May 2008. Late entries cannot be accepted.
